Would you ever ask for a gift from guests for your wedding?

I wouldn't ask people to bring me a gift at my wedding. if they want to bring a gift then they can bring one but i'm not expecting anything. i know it's a tradition but that doesn't mean they have to follow it. They do kind of lead it on to be a charitable thing. i would never use the name of charity to get gifts for myself and who would be stupid enough to give them a Home Theatre Receiver. I don't even have that so i wouldn't buy it for a greedy couple.
