I'm having problems with my '96 jeep grand cherokee's transmission shifting.?

When it is cold my jeep has a problem shifting into third. It seems to only really act up when it is cold, and if you burp the gas pedal it finally shifts. I have already replaced the senor in the trans twice and it continues to do it. Any ideas to why else this is happening?
