Do bluegills move to shallower water in the morning?

Now that it's getting cooler around 2-4 in California here, there has been no bluegill lately at my secret spot =(. So I'm wondering if they will be wandering around to shallower water when it gets warmer? (If not, any tips for fall fishing through winter?) How far should I cast for bluegills then?
